Crocodile Stitch Scarf

You may be asking yourself, "Why is she posting about scarves when it is still unnaturally hot outside?" Well, to put it simply, I just love to make scarves and this one is my absolute favorite!

About a year ago I found these really beautifully colored yarns (Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable) and just couldn't pass them up. But like I usually do, I compulsively bought them with no project in mind. So my stash grew slightly bigger and I was once again stumped. Until I started brainstorming...

The crocodile scale stitch is really quite beautiful and is a really easy "pattern" to learn. I designed my own pattern for a triangle scarf using this stitch. Here is the latest one.

This pattern uses just less than one full skein of this particular yarn. I love the self-striping because even using the same color yarn, you still get slightly different results with 2 different skeins. Here are a couple more I have done.

Baby Blue Blanket

I am on a roll with these blankets!! I have finished #2 of the 3 blankets I started! This one is geared more for boys as it is made with a royal blue, pastel blue, white and trimmed in gray. I did it in some thick, bold stripes with a stitch pattern that wasn't quite so "girly" in look. I added a single crochet trim to keep it simple and just add that little accent color. This one is actually a little bigger than I normally make my baby blankets, so it would actually be great for a toddler! Here it is in all it's glory

As you can see, it is a super snuggly blanket and has a great textured look. I am very pleased with the outcome of this blanket and hope I can find it a new home other than my bedroom!

Lacy Crochet Baby Blanket

A couple weeks ago I wrote a post about blankets and their ability to go unfinished once I start them (Here is the post). Well let me tell you, I finally won a battle over a blanket! This blanket came out just the way I envisioned it would. It is the perfect design for a new baby girl. Here is the finished product!

And here is a closeup of the design. The blanket's true color does not show here, but I think that has to do with my camera being so close to it.

Pillowcase Dress

So summer is here and in full swing! If you're looking for a great summer dress for your sweet little princess, here is a perfect one!! I used the tutorial from The Mother Huddle and let me tell you, it is WONDERFUL!!! The blog provides several sizes, tie options, and a tutorial on how to add a lining. I made one of these for my daughter and she doesn't want to stop wearing it. They make great play clothes too! So if you sew this would be a great project and it's easy on your pocket book too! Barefoot Sandals Pattern For Toddlers

Here's a quick pattern that's great for summer! My little one wears these around the house all the time. They are great for the beach too!! Enjoy!

I made these for my 20 month old daughter, so the pattern is for a toddler around that age. Feel free to add extra rows for a larger size or take one or 2 out for something smaller. You are more than welcome to sell any made item from this pattern, but please don't distribute this pattern as your own or sell it, thanks!!

Materials
G Hook
Worsted Weight Yarn (cotton or acrylic)
Tapestry Needle
Buttons or beads for embellishment

Start by chaining 8 and sl st to form a loop
R1) ch 2 (this counts as a dc here and throughout), 3 dc in loop. ch 2 and turn. (4)
R2) dc in same st as turning chain and each st across. ch 2 and turn. (5)
R3) dc in same st as turning chain and each st across. ch 2 and turn. (6)
R4) dc in same st as turning chain and each st across. ch 2 and turn.(7)
R5) dc in same st as turning chain, ch 2 and skip next st. sc in next st, ch 2, sc in next, ch 2, skip next st and 2 dc in last st (6) Do not end off.
From here you will be making the ankle loop. You may want to get a measurement of the ankle to make sure the sandal will fit around securely but not too tightly. I chained 15 and then sl st to the opposite side of the sandal where I started R5. End off and weave in your ends.

You can embellish these with a flower, buttons, butterfly, leave them plain, or however else you can think of. The possibilities are endless ;)

My Baby Girl's 1st Birthday!

This Friday is my daughter's 1st birthday! I am in awe at how fast the past year has gone. To help celebrate this milestone occasion, I made her a birthday outfit! I crocheted a tiara for her, did a "1" applique shirt, and made a tulle tutu for her. Check it out!

For the shirt I used some heat bond and ironed the number one onto it and then did a blanket stitch around the number to add some color. Pretty simple, but I think it looks so cute! The tutu was SUPER easy. I used some wide elastic and took some tulle strips and just knotted them onto the elastic in a pattern. The tiara is my favorite. I used a pattern from Oodles 4 Noodles. It was really easy to follow. I wanted my daughter's birthday to be special, and while she won't remember it, we can always show her pictures of what a pretty little princess she was!

I have also been busy working on some more Halloween hats. I got a vampire and a candy corn hat finished recently. Here they are!

The vampire was a bit of a challenge for me as I could not find a pattern I liked. So I just kinda made one up as I went along :) I think it is appropriate for small children since it is not too scary looking and doesn't have any "blood" on it. All of my Halloween hats are in my Etsy shop and just waiting for you to order one! Happy crafting everyone!

Happy Hippo :)

I made a hippo hat for my daughter this weekend and it came out great! For some reason I feel hippos should be either purple or blue when cartoonized. Since this one was for a girl I made it purple and gave it a flower. I love the combination of the purple and teal. It would look great as gray or even pink too! Check out my little model :)

I also had to remake a stork pouch. The original one I made for a photographer friend of mine ended up being too small. So I found a better pattern and whipped one up today. Here it is!

This is such a great photo prop for newborns. I love that it is see through so you can see baby toes and fingers poking out from the pouch :) I have both of these items listed in my Etsy shop if you'd like one! Go check it out! Happy Crafting Everyone!
